01. What does the Home Insurance package from intune offer?
intune Home and Contents Insurance offers comprehensive, added-value cover.
The policies are both flexible and comprehensive, allowing you to buy just the level of insurance you need. The service also operates a free 24-hour home emergency helpline and a new-for-old policy on claims.
For contents, you can choose either Accidental Damage or Standard cover. Both offer optional Personal Possessions cover while away from home, covering all personal possessions under £1,500.
Both Accidental Damage and Standard contents policies cover home contents in your home, garden or outbuildings in the event of theft, vandalism or fire.
02. What are the other benefits?
There is no upper age limit for applicants.
There are no complicated application forms. Trained telephone advisers will help keep everything simple, explaining the issues if necessary. You will then be sent a policy document. This is Home Insurance made easy.
The plan is flexible. It allows you to choose the level of cover you require and the clauses you want included e.g. accidental damage cover or personal possessions cover.
You can tailor the plan to include specific cover. For example, if you would like cover for a personal possession worth over £1,500, you can list it as a specified item.
03. Who is eligible for intune cover?
Anyone. But the plan is designed with people over the age of 50 in mind.
04. If I apply, when can my cover start?
Cover can start whenever you like – from the moment you call our freephone service if you choose. That's subject to payment of the premium or a deposit if paying by instalments.
You will receive your policy documents by post, to review at your leisure. If you have any queries, you can call intune Insurance Services on Freephone 0800 022 3175.
05. How easy is it to make a claim?
intune Home Insurance will settle any claims promptly, honestly and fairly.
06. How does intune Home Insurance differ from other Home Insurance plans?
The cover is flexible and wide-reaching, so you can tailor your plan to include the cover you want. Many other companies simply offer cover on a take-it-or-leave-it basis.
07. Are there any extra discounts?
A further discount is also available if you purchase buildings and contents insurance together.
08. Some companies increase their rates so that any discount simply brings their premiums down to ordinary levels. What is the intune policy?
Don't worry, intune doesn't do this. Our rates and premiums are competitively priced.
09. What is involved in taking out this policy?
One simple, free phone call is all that is required. You will then receive a policy by post, which you can review at your leisure.
If you have any queries, you can call intune Insurance Services on Freephone 0800 022 3175.
10. Is "all risks" exactly what it states?
No. "All risks" should not be interpreted literally. It is not a summary of cover but is commonly used to differentiate between cover for contents in the home and cover for certain items outside or away from home.
intune Home Insurance covers your home contents in your home, garage and outbuildings and certain items such as patio furniture that are outside, as long as they are within the grounds of your home.
However, we can also extend your home contents insurance to include accidental loss or damage to certain items anywhere in the world. These items are normally termed personal possessions.
11. What exactly do you mean by personal possessions?
"Personal possessions" or "personal belongings" describe items that you or your family may take outside or away from home. These may be, for example, clothing, jewellery, watches, cameras, mobile phones, handbags or luggage.
12. What exactly do you mean by "valuables"?
intune Home Insurance defines valuables as being items of jewellery, furs, articles made of gold, silver and other precious metals, pictures, and other works of art, including stamp, coin and medal collections.
13. Are my fences covered?
Fences are covered under home buildings insurance but there are exclusions, for example, for damage that results from storm and flood.
14. What is meant by my boundaries?
intune Home Insurance covers your home buildings and contents within the boundaries or grounds of your home.
15. If my garage is not at my private home address are its contents still covered?
Garages and their contents are covered as standard under this policy, even if your garage is not directly on your property. However the garage must be in the vicinity of your property.
To help prevent theft from garages, these should be securely locked.
16. Do my contents include carpets and curtains and kitchen units?
There is a definition of "contents" in your Home Insurance policy booklet. As a broad rule contents are classed as items which you would take with you if you moved house.
Carpets and curtains would be classed as contents but kitchen units would be classed as part of the buildings.
17. Is money covered as part of my personal possessions?
With intune, money and credit cards are covered under contents, which is great news. Money kept in the home is covered under home contents insurance in certain events, such as fire and theft. But limits do apply to the amount of money covered.
18. What is your policy on cover for unoccupied properties?
Most insurance companies don't consider that you may want an extra long holiday and restrict cover for unoccupied properties to 30 days. We offer a 60 day policy. Restrictions/refusal apply if unoccupied for more than 60 days.
